Beans

I am not a pinto bean fan but I really enjoyed this recipe. It reminds me of my mom's chili, so I served it with saltines. You could also top with cheese or serve with some type of bread.
Servings: 4 yield(s)
Prep Time: 45 mins
Cook Time: 60 mins
Total Time: 105 mins
Ingredients
  • 3 onions (chopped)
  • 4 garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin (if you can't find whole cumin)
  • 1 pinch allspice
  • 15 floz tomato sauce (1 can)
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 pinch cayenne
  • 1 pinch oil (to fry onions)
  • 1 pinto beans (1 can)
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/3 water (can)
Instructions
  1. Fry the chopped onions and garlic in oil until golden but not burnt
  2. Add cumin, allspice, cayenne, black pepper, and 1 can of tomato sauce and 1/3 can water
  3. Simmer until thicken then add beans. Bring to boil and simmer about 10- 15 min.
Recipe Notes

I went to 2 different stores to try to find the whole cumin and allspice. All I could find was ground. So I substituted with ground.
