Chocolate Maple Walnut Praline

I'm not much of a baker or a sweets person, so I was a bit intimidated by this recipe.  It actually turned out to be super easy!  And boy if you likes sweets this is the treat for you!
Servings: 18 yield(s)
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 35 mins
Total Time: 45 mins
Ingredients
  • 1.5 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice (fresh)
  • 2 oz unsweetened chocolate (1/4 inch pieces)
Instructions
  1. In a 325 degree oven, toast the walnuts on a baking sheet for 8 minutes. Remove from oven and cool to room temperature.
  2. Heat maple syrup in a saucepan over medium high heat. When it starts to boil reduce heat to medium and let it continue to boil for about 10 minutes until it thickens. Remove from the heat.
  3. Add walnuts to the hot syrup and stir to glaze them. Pour them onto a baking sheet and spread evenly with a metal spoon. Set aside.
  4. In a saucepot, pour in the sugar and lemon juice and whisk to combine. On medium high heat caramelize the sugar whisking constantly, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and whisk in the pieces of chocolate until all are melted and combined.
  6. Instantly pour over the glazed walnuts, making sure they are mostly all covered.
  7. Cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes. Cut into pieces and serve!
