Instructions
-
Cut 3 pounds of lamb into 1" cubes

Put the lamb into kettle, cover with cold water and bring to a boil.

Add 1/2 c barley and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender.

Cool, skim fat and if there are bones, remove

Put 2 Tablespoons of butter into a heating pan

Add carrots, celery, turnips, and onion.

Cook about 5 minutes and then add to soup

Add salt and pepper
-
Cook until vegetables are done and add water if too dry.
