Ingredients
  • 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
  1. In a 2-quart saucepan over very low heat, heat the sugars, milk, and corn syrup to boiling stirring constantly. Set a candy thermometer in place and continue cooking, stirring constantly until the temperature reaches 238, just above softball but not yet hardball. A small amount dropped into cold water should hold its shape and ball up. This takes about 30-35 minutes.
  2. Remove the candy mixtures from the heat. With a spoon, beat butter, syrup, and nuts into the mixture.
  3. Quick drop the mixture by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper and cool on wire rack.
