Instructions

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together into a bowl.

Add syrup, shortening, milk and beat for 2 minutes.

Add eggs and beat for 2 minutes.

Add chopped pecans and mix well.

Pour prepared batter into 2 greased and floured 9 inch pans.

Bake on 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Allow cakes to cool for 10 minutes before inverting them. Then allow cakes to finish cooling on cooling racks before wrapping and placing in the freezer to chill for 30 - 45 minutes before torting them into layers.
