Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, mix sweetened condensed milk, butter, and salt. When bubbles start to form around the edges of the pan start a timer for 5 minutes. When the pot comes to a full boil turn heat down to medium-low to finish the 5 minutes. Stir continuously to keep the mixture from scorching.
- Remove the pot from the heat and stir in marshmallow creme, chocolate chips, and peppermint extract. Stir until completely mixed and the chocolate and marshmallow creme are totally incorporated, with no streaks.
- Stir in nuts just to incorporate.
- Spread the finished fudge evenly into an 8" baking dish lined with plastic wrap. Use enough plastic wrap to overlap the sides of the dish so that it can cover the top of the fudge while cooling.
- Put covered fudge in the refrigerator or a cool place until firm. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- If you don't have marshmallow creme you can substitute 1 1/2 cups of miniature marshmallows.
- Do not substitute evaporated milk for the sweetened condensed milk in this recipe.
- Feel free to change it up by using a different flavor chip (like white chocolate or peanut butter), flavor extract (like vanilla or almond), chopped nut and/or dried fruit of choice, or leave the nuts and chews out altogether.
- Makes about 2 lbs. of fudge.
