  • In a saucepan, combine all ingredients except the rum.
  • Heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the rum.
  • Cool to lukewarm. Serve over souffle or any plain cake or ice cream.

Notes

The sauce thickens as it cools. Add it to hot cocoa and enjoy a fabulous, warming drink. It's the perfect way to end the day!

I am a huge Harry Potter nerd, so I also mixed the sauce with some ganache as a filling for my chocolate frogs! Most were filled with the simple ganache, but some I added a bit of coconut as well for some variation. None of them lasted more than a few minutes past the photo.
