So I ran into a snag with the fruit on this. I had to use canned peaches instead of fresh or frozen. Our state got shut down and put on a freeze again due to covid-19. So I am trying something new with this. I will be doing Brach’s cinnamon hard candies instead of red hots and I am going to use pink blush wine and a little bit of the syrup from the peaches to melt the candies down. I am also going to add some oats to the crumble topping and a little brown sugar.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Peel and slice your fruit of choice
- Take candies and smash them or put int a food processor. Add water or wine to a saucepan over low to medium heat add the smashed candies to the heated liquid and melt them completely.
- Once done pour over the fruit in a mixing bowl and mix them up so all fruit is covered.
- In a small bowl combine flour, oats, and sugar. Cut in the butter, you want the mixture to resemble a coarse meal.
- Spread over the fruit in the baking dish and bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes depending on the fruit you used. You want the top to be nice and golden and fruit to be cooked through.
- Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
