- In saucepan melt butter
- Add beef and sauté over low heat for a few minutes
- Add green pepper and cook 1 minute
- Stir in flour and salt until completely blended
- Remove from heat; gradually stir in milk; then add mushrooms including liquid
- Return to heat and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened
- Cook 2 additional minutes
- Serve over hot buttered toast or English muffin
