Caramelized Custard 2

Want a dessert that looks expensive? Don’t want to pay for an expensive dessert, this caramelized custard is where it’s at! Smooth and Creamy with just a hint of sweet.  Great to make for any occasion! You will not be disappointed.

  • Add the 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tsp. water to the top part of a double boiler, cook low and slow until caramelized
  • In a separate pan, scald 2 cups of milk
  • While the milk is scalding mix the eggs, sugar, vanilla and salt.
  • After the milk is scalded, add to the bowl with all the mixed ingredients. whisk and combine until fully incorporated.
  • Once fully combined add to the pan that has the caramelized sugar
  • DO NOT MIX past this point.
  • Cover pan and place in double boiler. Cook for 45 minutes on low heat
  • Once in the double boiler, do not uncover until completely cook and cooled.
  • Let cool in fridge for several hours before removing from pan.
  • Easiest way to remove from pan is to place a bowl or plate on top of the pan and then flip the whole thing over. The custard should slide right out!
