Maple Hard Candy

Yields: 6 Servings Difficulty: Easy Prep Time: 5 Mins Cook Time: 20 Mins Total Time: 25 Mins

This maple candy is a delightful treat that you can just pop in your mouth and enjoy as it slowly melts. Similar to rock candy, this maple candy is a hard treat but so easy to eat!

CandiAnne’s Note: We were stationed at Fort Drum, NY for 4 1/2 years and maple weekend is a huge thing there. You can visit numerous producers, taste their wares, and grab some syrup or other goodies on your way out. In 2007 while visiting the various producers I picked up a bunch of recipe pages on all sorts of categories that were put out by Eat Smart New York which is part of the Cornell Cooperative Extension. These pages were funded by them and the USDA Food Stamp Program.

  • Grease a 7x7 pan and set it aside.
  • Combine all ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a boil. Boil until it reaches 280 degrees. To prevent sugar crystals, do not stir.
  • After the syrup has reached 280 degrees, pour it into the greased pan, do not scrape the saucepan out. When slightly firm, mark into squares. Once it has cooled, invert the pan. Toss pieces in powdered sugar if desired.
