Pecan Maple Syrup Cake

If you love maple syrup and pecans then you will love this cake!  This cake is loaded with pecans and maple syrup.  This is a very rich and dense cake.  It would be a good dessert for a holiday season like Christmas.

  • Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together into a bowl.
  • Add syrup, shortening, milk and beat for 2 minutes.
  • Add eggs and beat for 2 minutes.
  • Add chopped pecans and mix well.
  • Pour prepared batter into 2 greased and floured 9 inch pans.
  • Bake on 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
  • Allow cakes to cool for 10 minutes before inverting them. Then allow cakes to finish cooling on cooling racks before wrapping and placing in the freezer to chill for 30 - 45 minutes before torting them into layers.
